Paavo Kinnunen memorial symposium
Symposium honoring the life and career of professor Paavo Kinnunen (19.5.1950–21.9.2017) will take place at Aalto University on 09 April 2018.
On September 21, 2017, professor Paavo K. J. Kinnunen (1950–2017) passed away. Born on May 19, 1950, and trained as a medical doctor, Kinnunen obtained his PhD degree in bacteriology from the University of Helsinki in 1976. After a number of research positions in Finland and abroad, he was appointed full professor in medical biochemistry at the University of Helsinki in 1996. He also co-founded companies KSV-chemicals and Kibron. He served as managing editor of the journal Chemistry and Physics of Lipids 2002–2007. He was elected member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters in 2004. From 2010 he was appointed Professor at Aalto University. The field of the professorship was Engineering Physics, especially innovation activities in biomedical engineering.
We will have a seminar with keynote presentations about his profound influence on the membrane biophysics.
